For the 2026 edition, the committee was keen to ensure that everyone, according to their wishes and abilities, could fully enjoy the cultural walk. Two routes are therefore offered: The long Trail that takes in all the works and a detour into the heights of the forest, as well as The short Trail, more accessible route along the developed part of the trail.
The works located only on The long Trail are made visible to visitors through a display located at the refreshment bar.
In both cases, high heels are not recommended!

The Long Trail
Begin your walk in the picturesque streets of the old village of Môtiers, where heritage and contemporary creations by renowned artists intermingle. Then continue into the surrounding green countryside, following a footpath that will lead you to the waterfall where Jean-Jacques Rousseau came to recharge his batteries during his years in Môtiers.
The trail climbs up to a bucolic clearing crossed by a stream: the ideal place to take a break and enjoy an absinthe or a syrup near a fountain fed by a natural spring.
After this stop, head back down a small path dotted with steps, offering a superb view of the village. This walk between art and nature invites reflection and escape.
Back in the village, take a break at the refreshment bar, where you can sample regional dishes in a simple and friendly atmosphere. Finish your walk by strolling along the majestic Grande Rue de Môtiers, lined with historic buildings, to the station, the starting point of your adventure.
The Short Trail
This version, which is accessible to people with reduced mobility, also begins in the charming streets of old Môtiers, where contemporary works of art interact with the local heritage. The route continues through the forest along a specially designed path, offering everyone a peaceful and pleasant walk, punctuated by art installations in harmony with nature.
When you leave the woods, stop off at the refreshment bar to enjoy local specialities in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You will also have the opportunity to discover some of the works located higher up in a different form.
Finally, end your walk by strolling along the Grande Rue, surrounded by imposing period buildings, until you reach the station.
Our official refreshment bar, run by the Noble Corporation of Môtiers Abbey, offers a wide selection of drinks and a small menu of varied dishes, carefully prepared using regional produce.
The team will be delighted to welcome you in a relaxed and friendly setting from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the days when the exhibition is open. For the enjoyment of younger visitors, a bouncy castle will also be available.

In a spirit of cultural inclusion, Art Môtiers is offering for the first time a specially designed route and adapted facilities to make the exhibition accessible to as many people as possible.
The Short Trail allows visitors to see three-quarters of the works while remaining on the lower part of the itinerary, avoiding the higher parts of the forest. It has been designed with accessibility criteria in mind and in accordance with technical and environmental constraints. The facilities are temporary so as not to spoil the landscape. The route is accessible to pushchairs. We recommend that people with reduced mobility be accompanie, as there are a few sloping sections.
We are available to answer any questions you may have on this subject. Please do not hesitate to contact us at the address below.
A good pair of shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and a positive attitude: that’s all you need to enjoy the walk to the full.
Oops, forgot to bring water? At the ticket office/shop, you will find our collector’s water bottle, ideal for your rucksack and for hydrating yourself at the many fountains along the route… as well as smiles, information from volunteers and an original assortment of souvenirs from the exhibition.
Didn’t have time for breakfast? Breakfast packs are available at the village bakery. On Sundays, the ‘A Côté’ café welcomes you for a friendly brunch. At lunchtime, the official refreshment bar offers food cooked with local produce, ideal for a gourmet break halfway through your walk. On Thursdays, ‘La Tanière’ will delight your taste buds with its selection of homemade pastries, perfect for a sweet break. In the evening, the restaurant ‘Les Six Communes’ welcomes you for a fine dining experience.
Môtiers also offers wonderful culinary and cultural discoveries: the Prieuré Mauler, where the famous Swiss sparkling wine is produced, the Maison de l’Absinthe with its ‘Afterwalk’ every Friday from 6pm, and various museums (Musée régional des Mascarons, La Grange Aboriginal Art Museum, Le Manège Automobile Museum). In addition, several absinthe distilleries are open to visitors and the Jacot chocolate factory offers gourmet workshops.
Throughout the summer, Môtiers comes alive with a varied programme of events. Calendar available soon.
To extend your stay, all the information you need to explore, taste and enjoy the region can be found on the Destination Val-de-Travers website.
The entire team of volunteers looks forward to welcoming you and giving you a unique experience at Art Môtiers.
